Frequently Asked Questions

HOABoard is currently iOS-only (iPhone and iPad). An Android version is on the roadmap. Contact us to be added to the notify list.
HOABoard requires iOS 17 or later. It is optimized for iPhone but also works on iPad. Apple Silicon Macs running iOS apps are not officially supported at this time.
It uses your device GPS and Apple Maps to find every residential address within your configured radius (25–500 yards) and auto-creates placeholder resident records for any addresses not already in your community list. Tap any created record to fill in the owner's name, or use "Look Up Owner" to query public parcel records automatically.
Yes. HOABoard supports unlimited communities in one app. Each community has its own residents, violations, modules, GPS radius, and settings. Switch between them instantly from the community picker.
Only if you want the "Look Up Owner" feature, which queries public parcel records to auto-fill legal owner names. Without it the rest of the app works fully. Regrid has a free tier of 1,000 lookups/month — sign up at regrid.com/plans, paste your token into Settings → Property Records API.
Make sure you are outdoors with a clear view of the sky when tapping Discover — the card shows "Getting GPS fix…" until a location is acquired. Discovery uses both Apple Maps search and GPS offset probing, so results improve when you are physically at or near the addresses. Try widening the radius in Settings → GPS & Evidence.
All data is stored locally on your device using secure on-device persistence. No account, login, or cloud sync is required. Your community data stays private and is accessible even without an internet connection.
Go to Settings → GPS & Evidence and use the "Min. Photos per Violation" stepper to set the required number of photos (1–5, default 2). Inspectors cannot save a violation until the minimum is met. This is configurable per community.
GPS field reporting, Analytics, Documents, Events, Payments, Voting, Maintenance requests, Amenity booking, Community Forum, Zoom video hearings, AI assistance, and Blockchain audit trail. Each community can enable only the modules it needs.
Open any resident record (or create a new one), fill in the street address, then tap "Look Up Owner from Property Records." HOABoard queries the Regrid parcel database and fills in the legal owner name automatically. A Regrid API token must be set in Settings first.
